Clouds Kissing the Ground

The air was so heavy it just hung in the air. There was a mist, a fog, a ground-loving cloud that hovered with the dragonflies all around me. It was nearly a hundred degrees and with my feet in the river water, it felt like Heaven.

The sun finally joined t
he mist & the words that hung so low... everything just seemed to settle in. I thought it might be a good time to go home & go to sleep.

I just love the river. The rocks, the water, the mist, the sun & the serenity of it all... ah, to be a dragonfly, I could just call this place home & simply rest my head here. orhan~ last email says to 'stay above the water.' These pictures provide evidence of that but notice how the mist, the water, is either rising up upon me from the river & like a cloud dropping from the sky onto me. How prophetic your words seemed.

Oh a little heaven on earth!!!! We all must find it, and we all have, just that place, here on earth and in our hearts. I can just see and feel that peace washing over you. The same peace I had while collecting shells with Alana, her eyes wild with excitement at the treasures to be dicovered. And there they were everywhere. We swooped and gathered each one that called to us,many of them overlooked by others but not us, she shared the beauty of each one renaming them as we went along, seeing what most do not see. The eye shells and butterfly shells and umbrella shells, natures art work. simply beautiful!! And so are you, I Love You!!!!

Just run ~ I am so sure that you of all people would have been right at home with me there.

Kimbies! I so love you...the beautiful things in life are always right beneath our noses ... treasures from Mother Nature. I came home with a cooler full of empties & slate pieces...ornage, silver, gold & black ... to mix with the seashells in the archway. Everytime I see my button shells, I think of you...of course, you're always on my mind. xoxox

The river is a great place to be. Elk river here in MO is one of my favorite places to hang out ... late at night with the west Nile carriers, the bats that nip at my ears, the flies swarming around my stink bait ... just kidding. It is peaceful, seems to make one stop and think of all the simple things in our life that we often overlook. Brings me back to reality ... I say to myself, this is all I REALLY need, everything else in life is just a bonus.

Orhan~ Nearly 100 outside...it is HOT! Drop your toes in the water & the world is between 68 & 72! It is wonderful. Your flattery does not go unnoticed.

Singleton~ No doubts about that. Water, our most valuable natural resource, is sooooo good for the spirit. I'd like to take you to this river. maybe we can meet in Blakely & spend a day at Reefer Falls together...just sitting, sipping & dipping!

Hammer~ Me Too! It looks like it should be early morning, but it's not. It's the afternoon ... very hot, still & muggy. But again, dip your toes in the water & all is great!

Mel~ I must come see you! If I were i Dream of Jeannie, I would cross my arms, blink my eyes & poof! There we would be!

Spongy~ You are so right. The river, like the creeks in the mountains & the woods, is so grounding. Sometimes when camping, I think I could stay out there forever. Something about it makes me feel so very much like I do belong here on earth.

Didja hear on the news about Bloggers wanting to form a union complete with health insurance and the whole 9 yds?
That'd be cool!

P.S. Nice River pics

A dragonfly landed next to me today, flat on its back. I thought, that’s a really uncoordinated dragonfly. I picked it up and tossed it in the air, but instead of flying away, it hovered next to me and then made another crash landing a few feet away. Then I realized it was at the end of its life, sad. Where I was raised, the old timers called them “snake doctors” for reasons that I was never able to determine. I asked, but got a different answer every time. Next to the Praying Mantis, they are my favorite insect.

Got my messages for the win. How is that you manage to continually cheer me up on the worst of days. Had I seen that this morning it would've had half the effect it does now.

Thank you so much. My love for you grows evermore.

skinnylittleblonde said...

Dee~ No I have heard nada about that. Sounds interesting though... why not? The self-employed did it, the seniors did it etc., why not Bloggers United?

Slaghammer~ Ironically enough Saturday I was able to watch a praying mantis out back. They are such awesome creatures...fascinating. When I was a kid, I thought man created helicopters from modeling dragonflies.

Orhan~ Any day I can brighten your day is a better day for me.

I love the pictures! They give and take with the words. And the words themselves settle around me like a cloud filled with the faces I associate with your words, the counterparts in my life of the people in your life who influence you and your words, even the ones I don't know.

It's intuition--the same thing that lets me know when a story is in the air around me, the same thing that lets me step into someone else's shoes and write what they might feel, or what their feelings say about their situation. It's intuition that said there was a poem by the river, an epic with deep meaning already there.

And it's intuition that I forget to listen to a lot. Should have came by last night, friend, but the words are still just as fresh.

Peace~Love and a handful of pebles to toss at a bright window, one at a time, in hopes that somebody might here one last goodnight or the first good morning.

My favorite critters are Dragonflies, Butterflies, and Cameleons. Nice place to hang. I can see the serenity... feel the serenity. Unwind... BE.

OK... now... are you SURE that's where it was hung?

i liked the comments for this post as well as the post itself. you have a few fans, skinny.... :)

i'm an ocean-girl, but i now live among lakes instead. and from that i have rediscovered dragonflies. soaring and hovering just above the water line. how come that's as good as a prayer?

Good morning, Skinny. Be cool on these hot summer days.

porch party soon, I hope.

Eric~ You are perceptive & intuitive...a listener & a sharer. I too, often ignore my intuition & you'd think I'd know better by now... we should listen more carefully to it & more frequently... our mind rarely leads our hearts astray...our hearts on the other hand can take us down roads our minds would never consider alone.

Vicci~ Aw Girl...i have missed you too! Just been like some hashbrowns from the waffle house... scattered, covered & smothered.

David & Mindy~ TY...photos could never really do justice for the real thing, but they do show some of the beauty there.

Little Wing ~ TY, yes, I hope to go back in fact tomorrow if even only for an hour.

Scott~ hahaha I lOVE your comment. I thought about going back and fixing post (It was supposed to say 'The day was so heavy is just hung low in the air' if I remember my original thought right. But if I changed it then your comment would no longer be so dang funny & plus, it's a reminder of how my mind sometimes just goes in circles leading nowhere. Thanks for the great eye, good chuckle & sweet reminder

Blogger still eating your comments? I was a victim, too. Lost a poem over it last night.
The horror.....

Then I wrote another, and it was all good. But still, I would rather have two poems, call me greedy and you'd be right! At least about poems, anyway...

Peace out

Nothing like the peace by a riverbank, is there!

skinnylittleblonde said...

ERic~ I took a day or so off of blogger...It seems that it did eat comments of mine at your place & at least two others. Sometimes somethings are best left unsaid & I guess Blogger ultimately decides that around here....but to eat one of you poems?! The gluttany!

She~ Your words are always so beautiful.

David~ It truly is serene. First pic, if enlarged, shows probably 50 of the Canadian Geese that were there...hiding in the mist. Beautiful.

Nithya~ We are in a serious drought here. the President has actually declared this area in a state of emergency & believe it or not these pics were taken about 3 hours before sunset! Wish you were here...we could sit riverside & maybe, when it was time for you to go back, you could leave us with some rain!

I knew you'd understand, skinny. Don't worry--I feel like taking time of from blogger, too. But I really won't because I love writing too much!
