His name was Bill, but since we are in the south we can call him 'Beeeeyawl.'
He was a buyer and a stranger and I brought him into my home.
He walked from room to room, opening cupboards, boxes, cabinets and drawers... pulling out things he wanted to take.
He found a box of antique and vintage costume jewelry...none of which I had even worn.
I plucked one ring out...'I gotta keep this one. It's magical. And it's from my Momma.'
Swooping in onto my pointer finger, I held my hand out to view.
Beeeyawl looked at me, then the ring, gathering all the others...'What makes it magical?'
'Well, just look at it! It's seaweed green, sunlight in the forest green! In fact, the only thing that keeps me from being a mermaid walking the earth or a woodland fairie trapped for the moment in suburbia is... your imagination.'
'That is the craziest thing I have ever heard.'
'Then either you haven't heard enough or you are not a very good listener. Yeah, you will have to stick around longer.'
I wore the twisted, knotted and broken green ring for the rest of the day.

Excellent tale! May we all find a special, magical ring to wear.
'Tis a beauty. I am a whole hearted believer in magical rings. I have one from my Mom, too. It is magic because it hides itself. I once left it sitting on the sink in a busy bathroom at my school. About 15 minutes later, I realized it and ran back in a panic. There it was waiting for it's wearer in all it's shiny nickel and turqoise glory. Maybe it was too out of style or not of much worth, an old indian ring from the 70s, but I still think it's magic.
Sometimes Saintly...
:) We ALL have a special, magical ring, we just can't all see it all the time. Tis the ring of love...may the circle remain ever-growing & unbroken. At least, that's as to how I believe. Much Peace to You Nick.
Dee...Your comment made me smile. I can imagine that ring sitting there, waiting patiently , by small splatters of water on the school basin counter, for you to come back & fetch her home. A glorious ring indeed... always believe xoxox
k.... *sigh*
I have a wee ruby ring that was my birth mother's--and an antique ruby ring that was her mother's wedding ring.
The one is thread thin and can't be worn.
The other I wear on my pointer finger--I've worn it forever....even when they told me I couldn't wear it, it's been taped in place.
Magic?
Yup.
I never walk alone.
We all need a magic ring to wear. One that transports us through time and space to that special place we all love to be.
I have a couple of rings, although I rarely wear them. A turquoise/coral/sterling silver affair from Santa Fe. And a wedding band, gold, wide, with an inscription.
Just recently, I lost a few pounds and tried on my wedding band. It fit, I wore it for a week, then it got uncomfortable, so I stopped wearing it. Mrs. Spadoman has the mate, obviously in a smaller size, to mine. She has hers in a drawer as well. I was always going to make a necklace out of mine to wear. We don't wear them, but we always know where they are. They will probably become special to my children or Grand children some day.
I wore the Turquoise one a few times. I just don't wear jewelry much. I have some necklaces that I wear for ceremony, and I have added the femo clay one I got from Singleton and you to that bunch. It has special meaning because it came from friends. Did I ever send Dream Catchers? If I didn't, I will if you want. Contact me about that. I always meant to do it.
Peace.
Mel...'taped in place,' oh bless you! All of my 'good' rings are broken and in keeper boxes, but I obviously have found some 'keeper'
rings which can come out to play. A ring is supposed to reflect eternity by it's sheer design (the complete circle) and you know, with or without your mothers' ring...you never walk alone. That love is eternal & as I type, is being passed down to yet another generation in your family. Much, much love Mel!
BarD...That's right! :) I have worn that hand-twisted, knotted circle of wire twice now... I'm pretty sure I was a mermaid simply walking the earth both times ;)
Spadoman...Like you, most of my rings stay in a box. LoL, I forgot about the after-midnight beads we'd made. I have some that I wear daily that are from the early, early nineties. Worth more than a pound of gold to me...such good times in the making! Much Peace Sweet Sincere Spado!
Then either you haven't heard enough or you are not a very good listener.Oh, wow. That is quite possibly the best reponse to anything, ever. Love it!
You and your words, let them be the life and death of me.
Like a lucky shirt ;)
Ahhh, sister love....
That ring is magic...and it's only days til you're a Mermaid walking on land, tromping around making swishy swirly yen yang signs in the sand with your fish tail....
til your a wide eyed night pixie...playing hop scotch in a gravel parking lot...Neon signs flashing in the sky...
til you're a pirate, beer bottomed out and lazy, swaying on a hammock on a newly conquered island...
Til you're 6 again....
and 16 again...
and 80 all at once....
I'm a believer.....

and you too! "to un-limiting imaginations and magic rings" ~s.
Orhan....Hahaha, oh, please don't let anything I say be the life or death of you.
Hammer...yep!
Sister Sing...sigh, yeppers, I too am a hopeless believer.
She...sometimes, it is the imagination that carries me from one reality to the next...
