When I see a car with one headlight, a pop-eye, I put my fingers to my lips, kiss them and then touch the roof, making a wish. I count them and when I get out of the car my counting stops.
In fact, I wished this way onto Deans List and all through college. I wished my way into one decent job when I had been working three. I wished myself into a house when I was renter. And I'm wishing now...
Here's an old southern wish for the fall...
If you see a bale of hay...
make a wish then say
'Bale of Hay, Bale of Hay
Take My Wish & Blow it Away"

Padiddle!!!!!!
k.....that's what we call the one-headlighted cars.
No wish gets made though.....
Hmmmmm....might haffta start that!
<-- always gets the padiddles before himself
And OH my--would I be wishin' all the time or WHAT?
Only they're not 'bales' of hay....those are square. Leastwise that's what used to be a bale.
<-- used to bale hay and stack the bales.....and wait for the stack to tumble. *laughing*
(obviously sucked at stacking the bales! LOL)
I wish I may
I wish I might
have the wish
I wish tonight!
Starlight....for you, sisterlove
you with the pop-eye, mine is going through a traffic light on yellow before it turns to red...my mom always said kiss the roof for good luck! now the girls do it for me!!!lol!!
Jerzygrl...hahahha, I learned it from my own Mother just as your girls learn from you.
Singleton...These silly wishes remind me of what it is that I want and as long as i remain aware and don't get side-tracked, they're likely to come to fruition...
Mel...hahaha, Ive seen the cubed bales and the rounded loaf ones here. I think the type of machinery used dictates that, but in my book, they're all bales...so wish away!
Never heard of this one before ever, but I love it.... I usually wish on a shooting start but haven't seen one in years. Now I wish on a shell I found in the sea...
Pop-eye you say, I'll try it.
