Dragonflies are helicopters

Where the dragonflies are helicopters and the weeds are wildflowers, this is where I had a late lunch today.... Thank You Mother Nature. I Love You...

Fireworks & Fiery Skies

Happy Independence Day....
It means so many different things to so many different people now-a-days...

Fireworks and Family Reunions...
Parades and Parties...
Veterans and Founding Fathers...
Hot Dogs and Hamburgers...

It is the date which the Declaration of Independence was signed...

But in the big picture and on another level, we are very dependent...
so if we sometimes take for granted our freedoms and our liberties and if some of us get caught up in the fun and festivities , forgive us.

May we look up to the skies and down at the ground
and give respect to that which we are all truly dependent upon...

Wooly Slug, Hairy Worm or Puss Caterpillar

I saw one of these little babies and thought it was fascinating. Of course I wanted to touch its hair, see if it was a soft as it looked. Luckily I thought best I leave it in peace... it could have rocked mine had I brushed it.

It's hairs are actually poison-filled spines that cause waves of intense pain, rashes, shock, swelling, cramps, nausea and more. They are the most poisonous caterpillars in the US and live in the south, from Texas to Florida and up to Maryland feeding on apple, birch, hackberry, oak, persimmon, almond, pecan, oak, elm and sycamore trees.

If you contact one you have to pull the spines out with tape and seek medical attention.

Something so unusual, so small and oddly pretty is enticing in appearance & I guess they gotta have some defense to keep big human being from toying with it.

The Dirt, the Sun and a Field of Free Wishes

My favorite fresh cut flowers were actually weeds, gathered roadside from a drainage ditch and clumped together in a rusty old tin can from the same ole murky ditch.

Maybe a month or so ago, while walking after dark, I came across a field filled with weeds reaching for the stars....a field of free wishes.
I didn't make any wishes, instead I just took it all in...
Soaking up the magic of the moment...
The next night, they were all gone...
blown away by the wind.
If Mother Nature made any wishes before she blew them, I bet her wishes will all come true.

Butterflies and bumblebees, hummingbirds and moths, centipedes and frogs, the neighborhood kids and even the squirrels ... we all love to see fresh flowers bloom.

But maybe, just maybe, the dirt and the sun love them the most.

Flowers...
sweet little miraculous reminders to the dirt and the sun,
that they are loved for simply being what they are and simply doing what they do...
I guess, in hindsight, if I could have made a wish it would be...
that we all could learn to live a bit more like the flowers, the dirt and the sun...
