Intuition. Perception. Insight. Vision. Instinct. Knowledge. Realization. Awareness. Psychic. Sensitive. Open. Premonition. Sixth Sense....or common sense?
Visions, tarot cards & crystal balls, divining rods & palm-reading, runes, ouija boards, tea leaves & horoscopes... so many things to tell us what we already know. Entertainment for some & something much more for others.
I have two crystal balls that I received as gifts, sitting on my great-great grandmother Bashaby's old oak church pump organ. My great aunt Belles' six inch thick 1880's bible is tucked inside & a childhood photo of my mother & her parents sits on the hymn tray. There is no ouiji board in this house, but my twenty year old tarot cards are tucked away in the bowels of an old box within these walls. My crystal pendulum hangs from a hook two notches down from my hammered spoon cross. Hmmm... perhaps all these things equal balance...maybe it's even feng shui....a collusion of conflict....balance. I don't know.
Again, mere entertainment for some & something much more for others.
Some folks may think I am a witch or that I am lost soul who hasn't been talking to the right man, but like Dr. Suess said "Be who you are & say what you feel because those who mind don't matter & those who matter don't mind."
I think we are all intuitive, we all have a sixth sense. Not everyone has common sense.
Anyway, this post is for entertainment purposes only as I recently bought an entertaining little book. It's a thick little book with very few words. In fact, open it anywhere & you'll see somewhat primitive looking diagrams, drawings & pictures on the left & a handful of words on the right.
Page 6 says 'The premise is simple. Ask a question, receive an answer.'
I quickly discovered that I really don't have too many questions to ask & intuitively speaking, my dogs have absolutely none. Not nearly as entertaining as I thought it could be.
Tapping out this blog entry...rambling, really going no where with words, it seemed only natural to ask if I should, in fact, do a post about this little book & I flipped it open. In henna colored ink, the page I opened up to to says 'It is happening already.' Twa-la-da-la! With a flip of the page, I discovered I am proficient at divination!
Instead of hitting 'delete' I will hit 'publish' and invite any of you to ask a yes or no question (in your own head or in written word) and I will flip a page for you.
Entertain me folks & who knows, maybe me & my little book can entertain you ;)

killer...what'd you ever do with that little voodoo book i gave you?
oh, that wasn't a yes or no question...
I think you are right.
"Not everyone has common sense."
And we don't need intuition to tell us these things.
But I to believe, If there is a god and if there is a devil, then there must be things in between. The ebergy that feeds them both must be around us.
It only makes sense.
well, somebody has to ask a question!, so here's mine:
what will this relationship look like five years from now?
:)
Ohhh......we have a magic 8 ball JUST for this purpose.
(I toss it on a regular basis, the silly thing...)
Will it ever stop raining?! (oh wait, that's not the question.....) It interfered with comety stuff watching this morning. Am I nutzoid for being up at four in the morning to watch comety stuff or what?! (that's doesn't count either.....we all know the answer to that one already..LOL)
JUST for this purpose, I'm purchasing a lottery ticket--g'head, will it be a winning ticket?
Will I actually buy the ticket?!
I bought one once for my sister (at her request) when it was 130 million. I can understand why the Big Guy wouldn't give her that much money. But c'mon, it's a mere 30 million this week. I could handle that, dontchathink? LOL
Dee...Lol, it wasn't a voodoo book, you silly girl! it was a voodoo doll that you gave me. I think he's in the closet playing tarot cards.
Eric1313-Lol, the reason why I said that (about common sense) is because sometimes people place way too much significance and importance on such predictive things. However, I do believe, quite strongly, in intuition. When coupled with common sense, we feel like we 'know' things that otherwise we may merely just 'think.' Sometimes it's just a matter of being aware & beleiving.
Good & bad exists within all of us, imho. p&l babe.
KJ~ Lol, well your question is not a yes or no question (lol, the book has a 50/50 chance of striking home)But your page said 'Do not be afraid of what lays ahead.' I flipped another page for you & it said 'Do not go it alone.' that being written on the pages, I will ramble ;)...sometimes in relations we allow our own egos, wants, desires & sometimes pride to create conflict. These conflicts are okay, as they allow us to learn what we truly value, ultimately leading to a greater trust of ourselves & a more sound, upright & sincere relation with others. Being honest with yourself about your own areas of disenchantment & sharing these realizations with others should provide a solid platform for you & all of your relations.
Nutshell~ 5 years from now you will have greater integrity in your relations, but it will not be without battling your own ego. Have no fear & be honest with yourself, sharing that honesty with those that you value. :)
Mel~
Lol, yes it will stop raining. Yes, you are nutzoid. Hahaha, I did not consult the book on these things.
Intuition told me that you won't even buy the ticket, so there...that should prompt you to prove me wrong & go buy one! ;) I popped the book open for you & it said Someone with the letter B stands in your way so, now you will have to let me know the name of the winner when it comes out... or maybe the person in front of you in line will win some of that 30 million? Happy Sunday Beautiful soul!
Love it! Now, if I could only learn to ask the right questions! IMYSVVM sister love!
Lol...tell me about sister!
Welp, it's my day off...but I am off to work for a few hours.
This afternoon, i hope to get the tile finished getting grouted, some insulation put in under the house & maybe even a garbage disposal installed....
ilysvm!
You go little do-it-yourselfer! Your sister loves are recuperating, good thing I moved mountains yesterday 'cause it's a slow go today! We did clinkety tinks to their twenty five, open to close...feel the love!
write up my alley skinny -i love to do this kind of thing
random books/random pages/random words
and then am always so blown away and happy when it feels more serendipitious
and sometimes, not random at all..
but planned all along.
i have many dreams; does my wildest one come true? -come close?
love, ~s.
PERSICHETTI WANTS TO KNOW...
Will the Village People make a comeback this weekend!? :):) Love and miss you dear friend! Wish you could be part the blast from the past weekend we are about to have!
Okay, here's one for ya'; will I ever find enough space??
Will I ever get invited anywhere?
Singleton~ Lol, sometimes there's just no place like home 'on the sofa'. i am so glad you girls had a wonderful late night out! I miss you all terribly so!
She~ lol, I am so glad everyone seems to be getting the light-hearted nature here! By chance, have you ever read Running With Scissors? There is a character, or two, in there who consult the bible in a very similar way as the way this book was intended. Interestingly enough your page says "There is more than one answer to your question." Hahaha, perhaps your wildest dreams are more than one! So I plucked a second page out for you and it says "Don't you even doubt it!" :) So the pages say that if you can actually narrow down the sincerest of your wildest dreams, they will become reality!
Persichetti- coffee grinds, italian bistros & late nights rocking with the band....Gawd I Miss You! With reference to your question about the Village People, the answer page said 'Yes and it will bring you peace.' Good Times! Go forth, have fun & know that I so adore you!
Shrink~ Hmmm... I wonder if this means anything.... your page says that 'One With the letter D cannot stay out of it.' Do you have anyone/anything with the letter D that is in your space? Interestingly enough, the book says to ask yes/no questions, which you did...but it really didn't give us a yes/no answer. You'll have to let me know if this means anything ;)
No...Lol, well this is much more entertaining than looking to my dogs for questions or asking the book if I should have Okra with my porkchops! Ironically, you answer did come with social innuendos... your page says 'Your Charisma is Hard to Resist.' On a more personal note though, people can only invite you if they see you or talk to you & they can only do that if you see them & talk to them. Above & beyond that, I invite you into my little world anytime at all! ;)
Thanks, SLB, for your insight...I appreciate it!
*chuckling*
You'd be CORRECT! No lottery ticket cuz I forgot, dangitall!
And what's the point NOW when Beatrice or Barney is gonna get it and I'm NOT. *pouting*
Pfooey!
Would a name change possibly work in my favour for the lottery? LOL
ok, my sweet little southern sister . . .
game on . . .
my most pressing question at present:
will this last?
Mel~ Lol...it just wasn't meant to be! Things work out as they should & I have heard that many lottery winners find that all that moolah actually decreases their quality of life.
Oceans~ Ah, the games we play & seem to never outgrow! ;) Thanks for playing! The page plucked for you said 'Gypsy sees a stallion, love is in the air.' Another weird one that doesn't really seem to answer a simple yes/no question...you'll have to lemme know if I should pluck a second page for support ;)
NO~ Thanks for playing! ;)
What's the name of the book?
Here's my question...
Will we hang out again soon?
Just a quick note to let you know I was thinking about you.
SB
Hahah! "..in the closet playing tarot..." You so funny!
Okay, here's one: Will I ever be the female lead singer/guitarist for my 3 piece all girl band?
Let's see what the ol' book has to say about that.
D.
Okay, my question is-Is it real? And will it last?
I love doing this! In fact I may go consult my gypsy cards now....
Wreckless~ The Oracle of Love...
SB~ I almost called you yesterday but figured you were tied up as it was the week-end for you & I knew you had plans Sat night w/ the fam-to-be ;) This week-end is Dee-Bugg's big bridal bash & Curt will be here. We need to pick a Sunday!
Dee~ Getting excited? Can you sing? Lol, why have you never shared your singing skills with me, especially with all the rockin' we have done!? Lol, at your answer page... it advises that 'It will turn into an enormous headache.' Perhaps, you should just jam with the guys!
Karma~ Lol, yes this is much more fun with others! Okay Your first page says 'The sign of Aquarius promises new beginnings.' And Will It Last gets...'A door must be closed before another opens.' Hmmm... The answers seem to go hand in hand, but I don't know if they are appropriate. You'll have to let me know. If you venture to your gypsy cards, pluck one out for me ;) Until Next Time~ P&L/S&F :)
Okay Sissy...I pace around my own little book, your gift on the coffee table, asking it ta!dahs! and silly weather questions, superstitiously afraid to read the pages....So here's my question.....
Will I laugh that good again?
G'Morning Sis ... don't need a book to tell us that answer! ;) Of course, you will. ILYSVVM
the SLB
Hey,
That answer suits the question well because NO! I don't sing! Hahahah! :D
You and my sister would love to sit and chat about this stuff. Me I am still undecided on if it is for entertainment or if it is real. I'm learning more and more tho that some things just are ...
I can explain why people see "answers" that suit them in books like this, as well as tarot cards or astrology charts and so on and so forth, but the answer isn't nearly as much fun as believing that things contain magic.
We are hardwired through evolutionary training to see patterns, and we seek them and find them.
Contemplating the universe is a different kind of magic, and yet we seem to prefer his type.
pssstttt.....the oracle of love is now a butterfly with hands....dancing...swimming...
flipping in the sea....
looks like the most wise witchy hippie woman has been opening some minds to some pretty good stuff throughout blog land... sure glad I get to lurk around her crystal ball and get to peek now and then!
I talked with my youngest daughter the other day. She lives a couple of hundred miles away from me and I don't see her all that much. we talk, but not that often either. So, it was great to talk with her.
She just recently moved into a place and is a room mate of her friend. Her friend travels quite a bit, so Jayne, my daughter, is home alone often.
She claims to have seen or felt the presence of a ghost or spirit in the house. She is not afraid of this spirit, but definitely knew it was there in the house.
Question Number 1:
Is there a ghost or spirit wandering the place where she is living?
My daughter also told me she recently went to Washington DC and New York City and had a blast. When she got home, she went to a friends house. Her friend and her are both massage therapists. Jayne no longer practices this for a living, but exchanges massages with her friend.
Just before Jayne was to receive her massage, a client of the masseuse told her she did readings. The reader told my daughter there was a little girl in her furture and explained it as a daughter that she will bear.
Question Numbers 2A and 2B:
Will my daughter have children? If so, will she have a girl?
Okay Skinny, do your stuff. I'll check back soon for my answers. In the mean time, I hope you are doing good. It's been a while. sending my best.
Dee~ You so Funny! You'll be singing Saturday night, I know, and it will be good!
Spongy~ Sounds like you accept it as entertainment already ;) The real deal comes from your heart & sprit.
Scott~ Lol, and as long as it doesn't come with an expense to another & with any harm, life should be fun! ;)
Singleton ~ the star inside!
Spongeman~ whattchoo tawkin bout? ;) You're always welcome in my crystal ball!
Spadoman~ Lol...long time, my friend. Of course, my instinctive answer to your first question is 'yes, of course there is' and the page picked for this question says 'Unequivocally yes.' So, the book & I are in cahoots on this one.;)
I picked 2 pages for the second question. The first one said "Fate demands it' and the second one says 'The intial C recommends you work on the practical aspect first.' Perhaps Jayne will be like so many in my family... where children are acquired & gained as often as they are given birth to.... that being said, really, only time will tell.
Here's another one for you. Will my situation change anytime soon?
Hmmm... apparently I either need some cards or some new questions. :)
people think i'm a witch too. it doesn't bother me. let people think what they want.. they will anyway.
ok.. so, here's my question.
should we move?
i think i'll drag out my tarot cards..
And your future is the brightest of all, SLB.
Peace~love... forever.
Shimmerings...Okay sweetheart. Your page says 'Consider all factors, then move ahead' If I had written the pages, these words would be followed with the word 'accordingly' Time always seems to bring change, hopefully you can help them to be changes for the better. Sending warm thoughts of p&l your way.
justrun~ lol, you sound like me! I picked a page for you even though you didn't have a question & it definitely would not logically answer a yes/no question anyway, so maybe, just maybe, it fits. it says 'One with the initial L believes in you.' ;)
Mindy~ You witchy woman, you! Lol, there's worse things to be & to be called! Your page says 'The light of the moon shines brightly on your new endeavor.' So perhaps this means when you least expect it or perhaps it means you'll have a dream about what you should do. ;)Hopefully it doesn't mean that you'll move in the wee of the night...although the one time I did do that, I saw so many shooting stars I thought I was at a laser light show!
TBB~ Ah, not mine, but the blinking butterfly star. ILY!
I really enjoy your blog, along with those of your sisters . . . the warmth, love, and joy you all share inspires we, and warms my heart . . . but you're the cute one, so of course my focus tends your way . . .
I was poring back over your posts, and came to this one, where I asked a vague and open-ended question (can't even remember what about), to which you plucked a page and responded with an interesting intuitive answer, one that raises my eyebrow now . . . the gypsy and the stallion . . . hmmm . . .
Paige . . . I like that name . . . you increasingly strike me as someone I'd like to get to know . . . don't know exactly why or how . . . just following an intuitive groove . . .
Anyway, thanks for making my day a little bit brighter with your blog . . . I can always count on coming away with a smile . . . : )
Later . . .
Lol...Oceans. Buried in days gone by, I found your comment!
Thanks...blogging has been a great escape for me, as well as a means of touching base with many.
I have to say I don't think I have ever been called cute...lol, usually it's just 'skinny'
Ironically enough, I met another blogger out a few months ago (Karma) at a John Michael Rose show (ironic because I just posted another video of his this morning)
Sister Singg & I have often discussed how cool it would be to have a pow-wow at the beach with fellow bloggers...real-time. Who knows? Maybe we can all meet at the beach next summer?
I think the whole beach blogger bash would be very cool . . . count me in . . .
If, however, you really wanted to be adventurous, G Love and John Butler Trio are playing in Baltimore on August 17th . . . right in the Inner Harbor . . . Pier Six Pavilion . . . dinner's on me . . .
An outrageous invitation, I know, but it's been a long day, putting me in a "throw caution to the wind" mode . . .
Beyond that, you can always email me at oceanshaman@comcast.net . . .
Peace, cheers, many clinks, & namaste to you, my sweet southern sister . . .
Napped for a bit, and considered this follow-up . . .
Actually, I'm not that cheap a date . . . I'd also cover your ticket for the show, and I can get you a serious room discount at the Hampton Inn-Camden Yards ($29, plus tax), as my sister works for Hilton Corp . . .
the flight to-and-from, however, is on you . . . a deal-breaker, I know . . . but, like I said, I'm in a "throw caution to the wind" mood . . . sober, but beat . . . surfed early, got a bunch of stuff for a buddy in rehab . . . chaired a meeting . . . visited the buddy in rehab . . . finally home for an internet check, a quick nap, and dinner, after which I'm out again for another buddy's anniversary . . .
Hope these posts made your day interesting and smile-filled . . .
