Home Sweet Home

I had forgotten what it was like to live alone.
My mind ticks differently & my feet pad the earth with a different weight.
I re-learning things about myself that I had forgotten.
But, now I remember...
I like to keep my paints in the kitchen cabinets. They are easy to see, easy to reach & easy to put back up.
I can come home to 100's of gallons of water shooting out from pipes beneath my house, I can haul ass to Lowe's before they close & get them fixed by midnight, so that I may shower for work in the morning.
I love to walk topless in the confines of my own home without anyone thinking it means I want to get freaky.
I enjoy the ritual of mowing my yard.
Booming Led Zeppelin and working on drywall at midnight is not a problem.
Hanging clothes on the line to dry is peaceful, as is the sweet smell of sunshine that comes from this.
When the main phone line goes out & leaves me with no internet, I can run new lines from the box.
I enjoy eating meat, potatoes and greens and if that means I eat grits and eggs for four or five nights in a row so that I can afford to enjoy a good steak one night, it's not only ok...it's good, damn good.
I can change two sets of deadbolts in less than seven minutes.
It's never too late to wash the dogs...I can do that in the wee of the night if I want & they don't mind a bit.
Cleaning the toilet isn't something I have to do every time I go to the restroom. I never sprinkle when I tinkle.
In the event of a national emergency, I can turn my TV on. Other than that, it's OK if it just collects dust.
Eleven o'clock is not too late to exercise, midnight is not too late to eat & it's never too late for Love.

First, I'd like to sincerely thank you for last week's generous award. Family issues kept me from blogging, my apologies for being so slow for such a wonderful act.

I love the way you see the world, and choose to live in it, on your terms. The best possible way for you.

I thought you'd lived alone for a while now?

To be a fly on the wall, and not because you walk around the house naked ;)

Singleton...Sweet Circles, How I Love You!

The Ceo...never-ever-ever any such apology needed! I am a slow, lopsided blogger anymore, like a fish with one fin, I just go in circles ;) TY for all that you do!

Hi Rimshot! TY.

Mel...Lol, been there & done that?

Orhan...Just over 6 mos. The D came a couple months before the move out. If you were a fly on the wall, I'd open the window & turn the inside lights out, so that you would fly away! ;)

Wilson...Lol, that was actually back in January in freezing temps & after dark! Too late to call a plumber, besides how would I pay him? Lol, a guy neighbor came a few days later to 'inspect' and told me I didn't do a good job... but a damn good job. I learned a little and saved a lot!

Shimmerings...lol, i'm getting there!

Deeis4Dana...hahaha, didn't I talk to you the night of the busted pipes?

P&L People!!!

Skinny

Love it. Living alone can do some amazing things. Or make you crazy but mostly amazing things. We need to get together again before the end of September. And you should email me your address. :) Peace, love.

I've been living alone for about 3 and a half months now, and the transition is pretty cool, though sometimes fraught with the doubt, pain, and self-pity that brought me to this place . . .

I know, deep down, however, that it's moving me towards a better place . . .

Your post speaks to that, and heartens me . . .

The walking around topless thing got my attention, given my penchant for skinny little women of all hair colors . . . still, skyclad is how we came into this world, it's how we'll leave it, and it's a good way to inhabit it . . . don't lose touch with your freaky side, though . . . I sure don't want to, though I am, at present, pretty dumbfounded as to how to get it back in action . . .

Namaste . . .

Karma...Yes! We Must Get Together Again Soon! Lol... Having lived with parents and friends, siblings & strangers, lovers and spouses...I have to say living alone is best.

kj...when we don't have it(our own space) I think we kinda forget what it was like to have. Ah, it is to be treasured!

Oceansshaman...I will have to come see you, it's been just over 6 months for me & I can relate to the mixed emotions on it. This post was really a reflection and reminder for me that it's ok...in fact, it's good. P&L...

'tis good . . . as a healer told me recently, up at a sweat lodge weekend in the mountains . . . it's all good, all the time . . . and what we're going through is exactly what we chose for this go-round on the wheel of life . . .

Thought of you yesterday as I walked naked in my sweet, air conditioned single pad, drained after 3 hours of surfing . . . :)

Tell Singleton I said hey . . .
