This ThanksGiving is Especially Special

This Thanksgiving I'd like to give special homeage to my dear Mother.
As you can tell from this old torn, stained photograph... she's a natural beauty.
But her beauty is much too deep for any skin to contain.
She knows me unlike any other person, she knows my core and I trust her more than any other living being.

Her love & support is as unconditional as life & death itself.
Her determination could push an oak tree across the front yard.
Her wisdom eases pain & dances with pleasure.
Her strength carries the strongest of the strong through rough times.
Her thoughtfulness inspires family, friends & strangers alike.
Her motivations are good at heart & her own generosity is humbling.
Her sense of humor leaves tears in your eyes.
& her ability to cry without making distorted faces is amazing.
She is so much more than just my Mom, I know...

I know it is Thanksgiving Day coming upon us & not Mothers Day... but I am Thankful! She raised us to know the things she values & value the things we know.

My Dear Sweet Sister Kimbies is on her last round of Chemo today. My Sweet Soulful Sister Singleton is cooking a Turkey dinner, I think for the 1st time, for her kids coming home for the holidays & her new found love. My oldest brother is cooking the Master Turkey dinner for all the divorced, single or lonely folks in his town & Sweet Innocent Chanty Boy was released yesterday from the hospital after a 7 week stay. I am getting ready for the in-laws & really, we just owe so many thanks to our Dear Momma.

SammyRay & Vicci ~ Thank you both so much. I'm very happy, excited & emotional...tears of joy keep threatening to bungi-dive onto my cheeks & chin. I know a lot of the positive energy flow coming from folks, such as yourselves, has helped ... especially with Kimbies & the Chemo.
(((Vicci)))As I wrote this post, I thought of you, your mother & the wonderful dynamics of the strong & couragous women in your family, including Maryellen & her daughter. We are sooooo blessed. I love you & hope you have a glorious Thanksgiving.

Your mother is beautiful. "Her ability to cry without distorting her face." At first, I thought...Ha! Ha! That's funny...then I thought about it longer and.....you know....that is a rare talent!

Fuzzy~ TY...you are so right, women are often the pillars of strength in the home. I am counting the weeks until I get down there!
BBE~ Iv'e missed you lately ;) Yes, that is a rare talent one which I definitely have tried to obtain myself ... lol, when I was little she said 'little girls make the ugliest faces when they cry, young ladies still look beautiful, they just have tears.'

I swear your blog is better than TV anyday...well maybe not the nature channels. As I read your blog I saw this whole picture of your family running, doing etc... living daily life all in my minds eye~ It was like a movie of the week, a soap? (never watched one) So many characters and story lines, all so colorful and alive! All brought to us by you~ with your beautiful words and your wonderful thoughts... and stories. Your so lucky to have your Mom in your adult life. My mom died of lung cancer when I was 25 yrs. old. I missed out on growing up with her. It changed our lives for sure. Our family fell apart. I think Im drawn to you and your blogs because of your honesty and pure heart. And lets not forget how funny you are too! I mean just look at all these people here...you have us all coming back for more...I think your alot like your Mom. I am thankful for you...

Odat~ TY & Your site is quite wonderful indeed!

Fuzzy~TY & hope yours was wonderful, as well

Kilroy~ TY...what wonderful wishes from you...may they come back to you 10 fold!

Orhan~ TY, Ty, TY! I'll be sending you something special soon!
Piktor~ If I could be 1/10th the woman as she, I'll be doing well!

Lotus~ Your words are too funny, too kind. I am soooo lucky to have my mother, as she was to have hers. The women in my family are truly amazing, they can band together & do just about anything imaginable. The men are typically wonderful as well, obviously because we chose them in one way or another ;)Knowing you, as I do, I know that you picked the finer qualities that you beleived in of your mothers & incorporated them into your fibers and with each passing day, you spread them out to your children. I often say 'love grows' & it was the theme, if you will, at my wedding. I had that theme because my grandmother wasn't there & as a little girl when I envisioned getting married she was always there. But as I looked around, I could see reminders of her ... in my sisters, aunt, neices, cousins & of course, my mother, and suddenly myself. I realized that love still grows, even when the bodies that hold that love, that spirit have stopped. I am so sorry for your loss, but know that you are a good loving person & that your love, your spirit, too, grows...and I am thankful for you, as are many, many others

I hope your family had a happy Thanksgiving and in particular, Sister Kimby. I don’t actually pray but I’ll send out a lot of supportive and optimistic thoughts in her general direction. I’m glad to hear her chemo is coming to an end. It is a harsh battle and I hope everything turns out well.

You are very fortunate to have such a fine, caring, nurturing mother. It makes a big difference.

There are many mothers out there who are inconsistent, too anxious, too burdened by problems of their own, or just mean and angry, and they take it out on their kids.

I have heard about mothers who use spoons, extension cords (you'd be surprised how popular that is) even two by fours, as a source of discipline. Others just use fear, sarcasm, constant degradation, and snarl. Also popular is silent scorn.

So, you had a good start in life, and it seems to have carried you well. I'm glad you appreciate it.

ALSO-- I saw on the news that someone put up a wreath like yours somewhere out west and the "Christians" in the community saw it as a sign of the devil and tried to get it taken down.

Peace.

Major~So true, especially for those of us blessed with good mothers

Persichetti~ sorely disappointed but so glad you'll be with family. ILY.

Doug~ Where would we be with out them ;)

Monsoon~ TY & hugs to you!

Matt~ TY & U2

Slag- Your sincere words mean more than any prayer. I have uptmost faith in Kimbies!

Nihilistic~ TY & U2

Therapist~ Even through some pretty harsh times, my mother never reverted to abuse in any way, shape or form & it is perhaps my realization that there are plenty of screwed up mothers out there that amplifies my love & convictions for my own mother.
BTW, I wonder what is happening with our freedom of speech if people are going to nut up over a peace sign?!
