Kimbies & Me

I have to wear a cocktail dress. Have you ever done that?
Nope. I wore my wedding dress & last year I wore a formal.
Hmm...I've never even shopped for a cocktail dress. I don't think I can walk in heels either.
Wear ballet slippers. That's what I wear.

Kimbies! :) Good Morning! ILY! Hahaha...actually, do you remember Mom's story of her first 'formal'? Quick stitching a dress together, then feeling so accomplished, just in time for the ball, only to realize she had no shoes! And Nana gave her a big old costume ring to slip on her toe, so that when she danced her feet would 'clink' on the floor, making sounds? Lol, no wonder where we got our barefootedness from! Ballet slippers sound great to me!

Eric~Lol, I have a beatiful muslim peasant shirt & a cute long skirt, but alas, I was told that 'it is time to go shopping' ;) So, I have, virtually. The best kind of shopping of all ... through my sisters closets!

Never worn a cocktail dress, though I did Halloween in drag a couple of times . . . One hot mama was I . . .

Nor do I have any desire to wear either heels or ballet slippers . . . I'm neither skinny nor little, though I am blonde . . . bare feet, tevas, or birks for me, thank you very much . . .

I'm sure, however, that you will be captivating, whatever you choose to wear . . .

Namaste . . .

I don't even know what I cocktail dress is really. And I tend to stay away from dresses altogether. And heels, ugh. Such horrible contraptions. But whatever you wear you will look amazing, I know!

:) want my new "after five" barefoot sandals?

singleton said...

And you were too little to remember....but when Mom was pregnant with Chanty Boy, she wore Neru mini dresses (with matching bloomers.....any pregnant women would!) and "pajama" bell bottomed pant suits with that giant cocktail ring on her toe....and I used to sneak in her room and try that ring on, stand in front of her mirrored closet doors, and tilt them just so...so that all three mirrored doors made an accordian and your reflection became a hundred, lined up one after another, pointing my toes, with that rhinestone shining!

Orhan~ :) Me neither! First time for everything though!

KJ~ Lol, yes...ballet slippers sound like a great idea to me!

she~ Hahaha...you words are so beautiful, always, beautiful ... much like you & that kind, lovin' spirit you have.

Dee~ What else could it be?! For you, my dear, one Cock Tail Dress coming up!

Oceans~ Lol, you could come barefoot or in your birks to any gala event that I may host!

Karma~ Sporting my tank & flip-flops, I couldn't agree with you more. ;) But special occassiona call for special get-ups!

Singleton~ Are they the ones I sent you or do you have more? Hmmmm, I still have a chocolate & black pair here....

singleton said...

New pair....oyster and blue and seafoam greenish....pearlescent beads....beautiful and ummmm....I'm not feeling them anytime soon on this concreted foot...A patient that was enchanted with my love beads made them....they're definately up for sister sharing!

Ohhhhhhhhh...cocktail dress time!

How wonderful that you CAN go shopping through your sister's closets.

Alas.........the sister in my life isn't even five foot tall. LOL No shopping in HER closet. ;-)

i wear the evolved form of ballet slippers- the flotters. although the first factor of attraction was that it was so non feminine...in those times that is.

I've never had this delima or experience ... hmmmm am I missing out!

Dee said...

YAY! You are going to look sooo awesome.
P.S. You don't have to wear high heels...you are so tall, you could get away with kitten heels (1 to 2 inch heel).

glad I'm not a female for the those reasons.

every now and then you should go like cinderella, just skip the glass slippers!

Singleton~ mmmm....sounds like the beach to me...can't wait to see them dancing on the splintered wood of the Sea Vista in the Spring! ILY.

Mel~ Yes! 500 miles away & sight unseen, I trust my sisters closets undoubtedly, blindly & completely. There's six inches difference in between our heights, but it all works... pants, capri's, clamdiggers & knickers all in one ;)

Nithya! Hi! I will have to google that word, I have never heard of those shoes although an image similar to the crocs comes to mind...

scott~ Lol, a tutu! Marbeline (shar-pit on far left in 'captivated audience pic) is the only one who wears a tutu in this house! Actually, I'm afraid that if I wore something like that somebody might think I know how to dance.

Spongy~ Hmmm...makes me wonder if women are wearing cocktail dresses, what will the men be wearing? The modern day version of the leisure suit? Hmmm, I have no idea what to expect...but a good time! :)

Dee! Kitten heels? WTH...I have never heard of such! Hahaha ... ballet slippers are sounding ever good! I actually have some never been worn before barefoot sandals that just might match the dress from my sisters closet;) Is the outside area grassy?

wreckless~ lol, yep! There's probably a whole list of reasons to be glad!

Anonymous~ How funny...you just reminded me, I have a pair of 'glass slippers' that I wore to a wedding years ago. They are actually totally clear & if I remember correctly, quite cute & would go with anything! Hmmm...time to runt through the attic.

skinnylittleblonde said...

Vicci! I just missed you...;) now I gotta kiss you! Mwah! Lol! Singleton is sending me a dress & Kimbies told me to go fetch ballet slippers. I went tonight to get some, but ran too late & the shop was closed! I'll be going solo to this event, but will be carrying some of my sisterly love with me!

I was kidding, of course.

You and your sisters have the kind of relationship I dream of having with all my other sibs.

Only me and sister Kristen are close.

Muslim peasent dress? You sound fit to go to a renaisance festival.. There's one every year up here, and I go whenever I can. I love the costumed actors and the knights on horseback, and the dancers in arabic belly dancer get up... very cool.

We'll have to have a round table soon, lady SLB. Miss ya!

This made me wonder about a few things. My folks never went anywhere where they "dressed up". I guess my Dad had a suit and a tie, and Mom wore dresses in the 50's on a regular basis. I guess she had some fancy ones she wore to special occasions.

In my life and in our family, well. I don't own a jacket or a tie or a suit. I used to have a suit coat and a tie. It was just black and I wore a black shirt and black tie. This was on rare occasions if we went anywhere that I thought I'd have to dress up. Wedding or funeral. I always wore my light green chuck taylor hightops, though. I never had "dress up" shoes.

Mrs Spadoman bought a fancy dress once, we went to a wedding and she got dressed up. She looked great. She tucked the tag into the armpit hole, (sleeveless dress), and returned the thing to Macy's when it was over. No kidding!

Now, since there is a cocktail dresses, are there beer dresses or a beer uniform? Here in Wisconsin it's a mullet hairdo, a Green Bay Packers sweatshirt and a pair of jeans.

What about pot clothes? Just curious. Good to see you again Skinny one, been a while. Hope all is good with you.

Eric...Love the Renn Fest! Have an outfit or two just for it! Although it is quite expensive, it is always worth it. One of my favorites is the bird show. weird, huh? I just love watching them soar so high & dip so quick dback down to earth.

Spado...lol, yes we are wuite the casual bunch around here too. Funny how there are cocktail dresses, but not cocktail suits....Ahhhh, who needs em?! ;) Lol about the pot clothes... like David & Eric say, whats wrong with tye-dye & cut-offs? ;) xoxox

Enemy...I still wear my wedding shoes too, of course I went barefoot though.

Fuzzy...Lord knows, I love them. If you coulda heard Kimbies voice, it was beautiful! Her discovery of ballet slippers as casual/formal foot wear was like a kid discovering butterflies as a means of transportation...just full of excitement & wonder.

David...Lol, nothings wrong with them, but special times call for special measures. ;)

Kimbies~ ILYSVM...you tickle me! xoxoxox

Mindy... nope, feet are not meant to be all contorted like that at all! Those ballet slippers sound like the plan. I went for them, but the store had closed before I could get in...luckily I have a few more weeks for the Big Event.

Paddy...Lol, I don't even know what waistcoat is, but it sure doesn't sound comfy. Is it like a bra for the belly?

BeerSpit~ Too funny. I did the same thing! Cock Tail. Cock-tail. cocktail.

Eric1313... To the circle, ever-growing & unbroken!

Singleton...Ahummmm....dancing in good kharma sounds so very good to me....it's been a long time. TYSVM! ILYG!

Matt...Lol, I think anyone who is comfy, clean & secure is...therefore I agree, ballet slippers just might be sexi. ;)
