Peace, Integrity, Freedom of Speech & Money

What do you value? What is of relative worth & importance to you?
This is what I have been asking myself.

Peace?
Honesty?
Integrity?
Freedom?
Money??

Peace...it's fleeting. It starts from within & it emits out, often times getting bounced right back, but every blue moon you come across that soul who would grind it down to see if they can turn it black like a lump of coal.
Honesty...to be true to one's word thus allowing others to have faith in you
Integrity...having cohesiveness between actions and good moral values.
Freedom...to be open without any coercion.
Money...a medium of exchange for value.

In my little world, that's kind of how I see these things & lately I have been questioning what stands where with me.

My current conundrum is that all but one seem to trying for the number one slot in my personal value system....but it seems as if sometimes these things come with the opportunity cost of another.

Several weeks ago, I received a letter stating that I was going to be sued for my words here and on sites that are designed for customers to review businesses.

I responded, stating that I would gladly oblige any valid requests to remove incorrect information if they could clarify in writing my factual errors & provide documentation of such.
Although I have not received anything in the mail as of yet, I have received a couple of phone calls from the person represented in letter.

In the first phone call, it was stated that they didn't want to sue me and that they didn't really want money from me but they would because they had spoken to lawyers and had been guaranteed that they would win. I listened to the bulk of bantering for just over 15 minutes and got off the phone with the understanding that they would fax me documentation showing that I had written falsities & that if in fact I was in err, I would make amendments & honor their requests.

The second phone call, 35 minutes later, resulted in a voice mail where I was advised that they would not be faxing me anything, as their lawyer supposedly had advised them to save it for court.

I guess the decision was made that one would rather sue me than work with me towards a peaceful end.

I should have known...

Now, I have not met nor spoken with a lawyer.
I have not been legally advised of squat.

I value the truth.
I value integrity.
I value peace.
And, I value our freedom of speech.

Based on good faith, having no evidence of their words' worthiness, having stated clearly my opinions & my experiences...I again exercise my freedom of speech in the name of p-e-a-c-e.

This time, I have pulled down blog posts, comments & words. I have edited online reviews, where allowable, so that my words don't seem so 'mean & malicious.'

I have done this, not because I have been provided with any evidence of possible errs, but because I am trying to balance my values of peace, freedom of speech & integrity.

Again, I have offered repeatedly to retract any legitimate requests to remove any factual errors, as it has never been my intention, nor my understanding, that I have made errors.

As far as opinions go...as they say, they are like assholes...we all have 'em.

I think they should be ashamed of themselves, top to bottom. Based on my experience with them, I don't trust them with a ten foot pole and would never advise a friend, peer, neighbor or co-worker to do business with them...the bottom line is in my opinion, the entire ordeal could have been completely avoided with a little bit of honesty & integrity... some clear, open and honest communication married with fair & reasonable practices. I would never want anyone else to have to go through anything as ridiculous as what I went through for a used stinking car. It has all been absolutely ridiculous.

Actually, maybe now would be a good time to patronize them. Take a mechanic, get everything in writing and tell them Skinny sent you.
Really, they make me sick...

Sir Daleheim would say ''Sue on, Sue-etta."

Sister Sing always says ''In the end, peace wins...I'll meet you there.''

*sigh*

Why can't everyone just get along?
*sigh*

I applaud your willingness to come to a peaceful solution.
Open hands--ready to receive, ready and open to different solutions.
That's the stuff integrity is made of, dearheart.
And I so hope you're given that same consideration in kind.

Aw, God love ya Skinny Girl!

Sometimes doing the right thing doesn't seem to get us very far,,not that WE can see anyway,,,but it'll be there.
(Whether we are allowed to witness it or not)
I know you'll end up, standin' up,,continuing to do the right thing,,,and often, that in itself is all we get, but it's enough.
Hang tough,,,we know Sing is right!
(and yeah,,,tell 'em Skinny sent you,,,,love it!)

Oh bubs, this all just a horrible joke without a punchline. I do hope there is some form of justice. You've done more than enough to maintain the peace, all things considered.

Much <3!

Everything evil always boils down to money, doesn't it (she doesn't want to sue you, she doesn't really want money, but she will sue you and she will get money... she doesn't want to? yeah, right!)... tsk tsk... hang in there, Peace will prevail, sooner or later, one way or the other :)

i'm happy to donate to the skinny legal fund, as well as to the 'bullies suck' fund. i was sued once too for something ridiculous. the goal is to make you nervous, anxious, afraid. i hope you're not. funny how a business would not the very bad press they wish to avoid, they create...

you haven't personally attacked anyone or made false statements. you have simply recorded the facts as they have happened to you.
i can't think of a better way to make your company look bad than to sue a customer that you've already taken to the cleaners. they have your $3700, now they want more? unbelievable.

((Mel)) thank you & my apologies. My mother raised me up with 'If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.' Appropriate enough to live by, almost all of the time.
But then there was the heavenly influence of my grandmother...'If someone has done you wrong & you choose to do nothing, you are really choosing for others to be done wrong too.'

WilsonsArt...Lol...'Tell em Skinny sent you' was born out of knowing most folks that come here, come from all over the world. They must think that instead of it being the world-wide-web, that it's the acworth-wide-web. In the End, Peace Does Win.

Orhan...it's not a joke, but in the spectrum of everything in life it is laughable. Sigh, I know sometimes my peace & love comes with a little spit & fire. What one sees as defiance another sees as passion.

Sing... The circle is ever-expanding & will never be broken. Of this, I am sure. ILYSVFM.

Shimmerings...she wants me to take everything I have written down, as she believes my words are 'mean & malicious lies.' However, she is unwilling or unable to provide any evidence of the falseness of my words. I would gladly take anything written in err down... Oh well, the original 3750 made off of me can be applied to the lawyers tab.

skinnylittleblonde said...

KJ...Lol, I have never been sued & guess I will believe it when I see something in writing...that, too, will be when I look for legal counsel. Until then, I'm just gonna 'keep on, keepin' on' ;)...spent a beautiful day on the river, being watched by Great Herons & having dragonflies land on my toes!

skinnylittleblonde said...

Dee...Lol, I don't have a personal problem with anyone! It was just a miserable experience, top to bottom... with insult added to injury time & time again.

Shimmerrings said...

Yes, she's trying to make you nervous... but, you are strong, lady! And you are nowhere near malicious or untruthful.

Aw, Skinny. if you haven't said anything that isn't the truth, there's no way those jerks can win in court... and I'm sure they know it. If you do get a court summons, you should counter-sue their pants off, for all they've done to you.

slb: don't be intimidated.. what law forbids you from sharing your experience and truth?

the word "slander" refers only to FALSE/malicious reports

you have evidence of truth

i believe the law/God and justice will prevail

go get 'em skinny! lay down the facts .. i'm on your side,

Did this company ever make any efforts to make peace with you?

Dearheart...........there's no need for the apology in this direction.

I was gifted with that 'if you can't say anything nice, say nothing at all' upbringing--and spent years unlearning it. WPIML tells me to say what's 'necessary, kind and TRUE'. That means I have the responsibility to speak truth in the kindliest way I can muster.

Seems to me you've gone back to edit not the 'truth', but to make it meet the criteria of 'kind'.
We can say what we mean without saying it mean.

But we are responsible to tell the TRUTH.
You did that.
I'm proud of you for that...and for not altering the truth based on a power move to get you to live that 'if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all' saying.

NOT required for us to lie so others can continue bad behavior....it is required that we speak truth responsibly.

(((((((((( SLB ))))))))))

Gotta love and admire those who are willing to humble themselves to right wrongs.
Again, I hope this is reciprocated.
But if not-- know that 'you done good', grasshopper!

*huge hugs and much love*

Shimmerings...TY for the support. I really do appreciate it & will let you know when and if the judge agrees or disagrees with you.

According to them, they think I lied about title transfer & the Secretary of State. Even though I have my bills of sales, my receipt for title & letter from SOS & supposedly am "irrational" and according to some anonymous someone "a nasty, dumb hippy that has nothing to do but bitch complain" I have been open to accepting any evidence they may have showing me that my information is in err. Lol, irrational hippies always give peace a chance ;)

skinnylittleblonde said...

She....Thanks for the support. I haven't even done one of those free consultation thingy's with a lawyer yet & won't unless I really have to, but from what I understand anyone can sue anyone for anything anymore in this great United States of ours. But it is what it is & what will be, will be.

Anon2212...
According to them, yes. The day after I got my original car back & they got their Subaru back (keeping the thousands of dollars I had given them for the Subaru) they offered to pay 600 towards the repairs to the blown gaskets on Subaru. Of course, I have no idea how that was supposed to help me...it was their Subaru, not mine, and again they had nearly 4 grand of my money to pay for those repairs.

Mel...
Oh but I do apologize to you & to all of the folks who read my blog. My blog is about me and my life experiences, my memories, my opinions, thoughts, perspectives, reflections, likes and such...and although my experiences with them consumed a great deal of my time, energy & financial resources...I regret that I allowed it to overflow here & thus, consume yours as well.
I felt this way last year when I was dealing with everything here too. But somehow last year I did a better job of painting prettier pictures with my words.
You, like many others here, bring me peace, Mel and I appreciate that. I remember last year... dealing with the surgery, infidelities, alcohol abuse, divorce, doggie deaths, job changes, life changes & so much more.
And I remember feeling like you all helped me make it through some things that you may not even realize. I just don't want to abuse your love & support ... this stuff with them ruffles my feathers & I really don't want to burden you all with me & my crap. I value you.
And I do value the truth.
And I value our freedom of expression ... that's what I love about art, music, friends, family and blogging.

heh. they say "hippie" like it's a BAD thing. ;)
