Won't Be Home For The Holidays

Working retail, I understand that I won't be home for the holidays.
It's a choice and I am OK with that.
But make no doubts, I will terribly miss the twinkle in the little ones' eyes and the after midnight laughter of Santa's helpers trying to put together Part A with Part B.
But again, it's a choice and I am OK with that.
We all make choices in life....big and little
And all of our choices carry a butterfly effect...

Tuesday is election day... may all of us that are able, get out there and rock our votes.

Thanksgiving will quickly follow. May we all remember the little things for which we should be thankful.

Christmas is right around the bend and will be upon us before we know it.

I have a dear friend of twenty years or so, whose young son made a choice to sign into the service and he won't be home for the Holidays...

So here's to the Butterfly Effect...
May The Gift Keep On Giving...

Thank You Josh for the choices you make and may you make it safely home...

If you would like to send Josh and his comrades any goodies for the holidays, I know he would greatly appreciate it. He is a thoughtful, generous and not very picky...

Retail is an unforgiving beast come the times of missed closness. A selfish relentless beast.

I do indeed hope this Christmas brings you, your family, your people and your country the relief needed to maintain the balance :)

Almost all of life is choice, so says Mel, and I never argue with a woman who is right so much!

Here's wishing you the best holiday season you can have, and then a lot more.

I'll remember the soldier.

Oh Orhan.... you know the circle never goes unbroken ;)

Sister Sing... I knew he could count on you. I remember him when he was just a babe...hard ti believe he's already grown up enough to defending our freedoms!

JustRun... Thnk you dearheart. Hope All is better than good with you, your sister and that beautiful child of hers.

An FYI for anyone ...
I know that there are lots of soldiers, men and women, young and not so young overseas right now and likewise there are many organizations that offer addresses and such to send care packages to them. The USPS offers flat rate shipping on three different sized boxes (they provide the box) ranging from 8.95 to 12.95. As much as one can cram in there goes, regardless of weight. From what I understand Josh and his comrades would greatly enjoy edibles... and I imagine some mind candy would be good too (Magazines & such) Lol, I have a deck of cards & some lucky dice in my box by the door.

Oh I do not miss working retail AT ALL. Such a hard place to be during the holidays. But I like your thing here on choices. I needed to hear that. PLS&F.

I'm going to reference it on my blog.

I was asked on my blog if Josh and his friends are in the desert or in no-wheres-land as it seems to make a difference to the lady who wanted to send something. If you could stop by my blog, it's that circle/butterfly/thingy you existentialists write about with the lofty prose I admire so much. You know what I mean jelly bean?

Mel... Lol, you truly are an angel gracing us here on earth, aren't you?

karma...without our PLS&F, I don't think we would make it through any of our choices ;) xoxox

Wilsonsart... Yay! So glad your nephew is back home and I hope he gets to stay home and enjoy some peace, love & laughter. These folks truly are our heroes and so very often we forget that freedom isn't free... it comes with a cost. TY xoxox

CEO...Oh, lawdy am I going to have to now go google 'existentialist'? Lol, I am joking therefore I am joking. ;) Sorry, it's late & I am a looney little blonde ;)
I believe Josh is in Northern Iraq, specifically about 30 miles south of Mosul. It appears to be very sandy, but with pretty nice temperatures throughout the winter. I emailed his Momma tonight & imagine I'll hear back from her in the wee hours, as she lives in Alaska.

Thank you all so much...

This time tomm., we will have a new president...

Spoke with Linda

There are lots of sand storms where they are and the guys always appreciate socks, toiletry items and anything edible since they don't always get back to base as planned to eat. Anything they can stuff in their pockets to chomp on... slim jims, granola bars

He like thousands of others won't be home for Christmas, but we can let them know we haven't forgotten about them, we are thankful and that we do care ...

My sweet mother is crocheting helmet liners for the troops. She's made the paper and even the evening news. She never stops crocheting. She even received a wonderful picture of some of the troops wearing her liners, with their thanks. Bless her heart!

Shimmerings.... Apples don't fall far from the tree. Your mother and her activities with the troops show how it truly is a win/win. I know it must have tickled her pink to hear back from those troops. I wouldn't be surprised if fifty years from now, some of these people still have your mothers crocheted work and tell stories of "I remember when...'

Oceans...Yes, we will and that too is a choice ;)
