Bikes and Butterflies

My bike is pretty ho-hum. Except for the double wire basket I have on the back.
The basket prompts the neighborhood kids to sing 'dunt-ta-dunt-ta-dunt-ta-dunt...dunt-ta-dunt-ta-dun.'
I laugh and call out to them, 'I'll get you my pretty and your little dog too.'
It's all in good fun. They know me to be far from the wicked witch of the west...but who can resist the teasing with those big ole baskets.

I love them though. I bike for fun, not for sport. It brings out the kid in me.
Sometimes I'll ride up to the store and tote dogfood or teabags back in those baskets.
The baskets are big enough, so that sometimes I will toss a blanket and some food and drink to take to the park.
Sometimes, I'll take it to the creek and bring it back with the baskets filled with rusty tin cans and broken glass bottles that I have found down in the water.
I love my bike just as it is...ho-hum and all.
But IF i were to customize it, I think I would give it some big butterfly wings.
They would sit upright between the two baskets, as I pedaled along, just as a real butterflies wings sit straight up when it stands.

The wings would have psychedlic cleopatra eyes on them in shades of yellow and orange, teal blue and mint green, purple, pink, white and black.
And when I parked my bike, I could lay the wings down over the baskets and have my very own traveling butterfly bistro bar...
I could meet the traveling Beach Party and The Captain next year on their bike run down by the water.

It is almost like a customisable child. One that you can ride on the back of... so, well, nothing like a child. Maybe a horse. OH! A unicorn! It's a unicorn with wheels and no head. So, its nothing like a unicorn either.

That is something I would buy on Ebay, the Sponge Bob Square Pants sold it for me :)

Hi Rachael! Bikes are so much fun and I have a feeling you and peace owl LoVe all bikes! :)

Orhan...you are so silly! So it's the Captain you like? Why do I have a feeling that all the bottles of Captain Morgan captured you attention as much as Sponge Bob? ;)

Singleton...hahaha, until I get my wings I'll just have to keep following the yellow brick road...

I'm confused, is the bike in the second picture yours?

Orhan....nope, not mine. Just one of the many awesome bikes I got to see down at the Bike and Beer Run. That's the Captains bike. If you click on pic, you will see it is actually a rolling bar. The other bike has a solar panel on the side of the Tiki Bar Basket and the basket actually contains a powerful little stereo system. Pretty awesome get-ups. My bike is not pictured. It is very ho-hum, lol, except for my Wizard of Oz double basket ;)

That is so awesome!

Sorry for the confusion.

Hahaha, yes... quite awesome. Many more than I show. I just don't know how these people can ride bikes from bar to bar, drinking beer, in the blazing sun of summertime down by the beach. Sooo hot, but they all seemed to be having fun and there was hundreds of them...well, probably 2-300!

I was going to ask about the solar powered beach hut--but now I know!

Son of a gun--no bike here. At times I wished there was.

I think I'd like a big wheel, though. LOL And a wagon behind it.

;-)

Mel, I bet you would be like a big kid (like me) on a bike. Of course, I would love to have a big wheel and my sister longs for a little red wagon. Hahaha, together we could make quite a parade!
