Hmmm...this reminds me of a place in upstate N.Y. Cassadaga. "LilyDale" is the name of the community. There is another in Florida. Had some great times there! We would go every summer~bunches of us:) We would stay anywhere from a week to a weekend. Got to know alot of the psychics, mediums and a few entities etc... Those were the days my friend I thought they'ed never end...but they did.:( And now I'm in California...
Hey Skinny...Any chance of this being the one in Fla.?

Lotus...Cassadaga, Fla indeed. In fact our stomping grounds & this pic was taken at Christmas! I had no idea that there was a Cassadaga NY... is it similar to or modeled after Cassadaga Fla?
Should you decide to head back one day, Lettus know & we will have to meet you there ... it's but a heartbeat away.

funny how sometimes walking on the street of life - even ones made of concrete - can be named and ingrained into our being.

Very nice. I love old houses and neighborhoods. They have a wonderful strong energy.

Welcome back, indeed!

Great hallway shot--I lived in a place similar, 'cept half the plaster was missing from the wall. LOL Hallway from Hell.
*shaking head*
Oh the places we go, eh?

Like the houses even the streets and corners have so many memories ingrained in our lives.I still remember all those streets I have lived and everytime I happen to pass them by its literally a memory trip down the lane!I don't think I can ever forget those names and addresses. That was such a sweet way of recollecting those in your life.Good to have you back Skinny!

Anne~ Then you would love my neighborhood! Phase one of the homes were built between 1902 and 1906 (my phase) then phase two between 1925 & 1942 and then a final phase was added in the 80's. The newer section is considered the heart of our ghetto. LOL.
Sammy-glad to make you smile...I'll come see you this evening!
Doug~TY, it's good hearing you!
Mel~ Missed you bunches,LOL...even that hallway looks a little ominous in the pic. Such high ceilings and skinny doors.
Fuzzy~ I think you are right. It's funny I remember my life in stages... stages of schools I went to and/or houses I lived in. With each new residence it was lamost like a new sliver to me identity. LOL.

It is amazing how even in the blogsphere you manage to bring peace and love, I can see by so many people being excited to see you back :)

Awww, it's really sweet to look at a neighborhood that way.My neighborhood has fantastic street names like "Whimsical" and "Nevermind." It's charming.

I know a man who lives a few blocks away from Plum St. and Broke Ave. No lie. Living at the corner of plum and broke cracks me up.

It's cool that you have memories tied to specific names and places. Many people can't remember what they did 5 min ago.

I can remember events and names, but for some reasons street names and addresses escape me.

I still remember the names of the streets in the neighborhood where I grew up, in order! I have also been a truck driver in three major cities and know all kinds of unique street names.

When I travel, I use the names of the towns, or streets in a town, to make up names of characters in the stories I write. I-35 in Iowa has the best ones:

Joice Kensett and Roland McCallsburg

Glad you're back safely as well. I just returned myself.

wow - places over the pond always seem so exotic and interesting to a plain old Brit like me. . .

mind you, this might prompt me to take a camera to the river at the bottom of my road and post some shots of the tide flowing in an out, and the tide pools filling up and emptying, and the shore line disappearing and reappearing

that's all I could offer in return for these wonderful shots!

thanks for your visit and thoughtful thoughts last night skinny - come back soon. . .

Orhan~How I missed you!

Just Run I would love to live on 'Whimsical Trail' or something like that. When I lived on Tall Oaks Drive, we had over 300 trees in the front yard, so I imagine Whimsical Trail would be full of fairies, gnomes, mushrooms & such.

Mist1- LOL, I'm surprised I don't live at 'plum/broke'LOL I guess it's not where I live, but how I live.

Hammer- LOL, I attach those names and events to places....like stacked little memory blocks, they all go together.

Spadoman~ Welcome back! I love street names & town names too. What a great way to get character names! Vilulah, my littlest dog, is named after a small town in south Georgia.

i, like the view ~ LOL, I imagine with a moniker like yours that you would like the view...please do go take some pics...would love to see them! Thanks for the hospitality!

Well, mine are so boring. Pine Street, Main Street, 2nd Street. But yes, I have such attachment to the places that I grew up that they still look beautiful to me even though they are crumbling. I used to love to go to the place where my parents grew up and think that I was where they used to be when they were small. Now some of these places (people say) need to be torn down. Funny! When I look at them, I don't think that they look like eyesores the way people say. I think that they look like places from a ghostly past, one that I could visit more than just the buildings(Behind Blue Eyes)

Forrest Circle and Peachtree Ave. were my crossroads of youth.

Of course, every Georgia town has a road with Peachtree in the name anyway so that's not saying much.

BBE ~ Hahaha, you remind me that I too lived on a Pine Street...it was the white house. Maybe one day, you and I both will get to live on a really cool street like 'Peace Way' Or 'Whimsical Trail' or something like that!
Slick~LoL, I was down by your stomping ground just yesterday! Yes, everything in Atlanta has a Peachtree in it somewhere. You'd think that with all of us southerners, we'd be able to come up with something else. Funny how towns and/or neighborhoods can have themes. My current neighborhood is themed around tires, yes tires... good-year tires. My street is named after the old CFO of Goodyear. No Peachtree streets here, LOL.

I don't think I would want to live on Spiritualist Street...

The town I live in is renowned for awkward street names. Every developer wants to put the words “oak” and “quail” in the street name so we end up with Quail Street, Oak Street, Quail Oak, Oak Quail, Oaken Quail, Quail Oak Run, Oak Quail Run, Running Quail Oaks, Flapping Quail Oaks, Oaks Flapping Quail, Squawking Oak Quails, Chirping Squawking Quail Tail Feather Nesting Spotted Quail Egg Drive…and it goes on and on. Welcome back by the way.

What a wonderful set of names :)
I just came over from ILTV and that was a nice introduction.
Where we live the street names come grouped into names of towns in the North of England and then one time I was up North, I found an estate where all the street names were towns from near where I live in the south. LOL!
(love the post on hurrying and waiting...so true :)

We had an "Easy Street" in my town in Vermont. Smartasses.

If I could name the street I would live on it would be Enigma street!

Nihilistic~I miss you & can't access your blog....do I gotta go beta?

Slag~Don't you know the pizza delivery boys curse those streets!

Matt~ I wonder how often they have to replace that street sign! LOL.

BBE~ If they were to name a street after me, I wonder what it would be....probably 'Doglady Lane' or 'Skinny Little Alley' LOL....

Mig~ isn't it weird how they all follow themes. Here in Georgia a lot of the towns had their names changed at the turn of the century. Towns that were called Harmony Grove & such were consider cheesy so they came up with 'progressive' names like Commerce & Enterprise & such. Weird.
